Why Does Twitter Stop Scrolling?

Twitter is always updating its apps with new and amazing features. But this time it took things a bit too far and introduced an annoying bug. The auto-refresh feature in the app is constantly taking users back to the top of their timeline while they're reading a tweet. This is causing a lot of frustration for users and has been called out by many people on Twitter.

Twitter has since rolled out an update that prevents its web and mobile apps from refreshing automatically. The fix is now rolling out and should arrive in the next few hours for all users.

The new update will stop Twitter's timeline from reloading automatically when there are a significant number of new tweets. Instead, when you scroll down to the bottom of your feed and then return to the top, the birdhouse icon will morph into a downward-facing arrow that indicates there are new tweets. You'll also see a "Load more tweets" button in case you need to go back up to view more tweets.

This will make it easier for users to stay focused on the content they're viewing and help them to avoid the problem of doomscrolling, which can have negative effects on mental health, as Insider previously reported. Some Twitter users have credited the rate limit with helping them to break their scrolling habits and have started taking steps toward better digital wellness. Others have even said it's the best thing that has happened to them in some time.
