What is a Web Funnel?

As the name implies, a web funnel is a set of pages that guide visitors through a specific conversion process. Whether they're buying a product, filling out a lead generation form or downloading a brochure, this type of content is designed to convert potential customers into repeat customers.

The top of the funnel is where you want to start your sales process, so this is often where marketers focus their efforts. For ecommerce stores, this might include product and shopping cart pages, as well as billing and shipping information and a review page. For other types of websites, the first step in a funnel could be as simple as including a download link on a page that requires users to provide their email address in order to access it.

Once the users have reached this stage, you can begin to offer more direct promotional materials. Middle-of-funnel content, like case studies and customer testimonials, should help potential customers understand how your products or services can meet their needs and solve problems. This level of the funnel is also where you can use lead magnets to encourage users to continue along with your sales process.

Finally, bottom-of-funnel content should give users the final push they need to take action. This might include pricing and demo pages that explain how your product or service can save them money or improve their business. It may also be the time to include a call to action that asks visitors to complete their purchase or sign up for a newsletter.
