The Referrals Report in Google Analytics

Getting your company's name out there is an important step to getting more business. While paid advertising can bring in lots of traffic, there are also many other ways to get referrals. Referred traffic is especially valuable because it's often from customers who know and trust your brand.

The "Referrals" report in Google Analytics is a powerful tool to help you understand how people are finding your website. It can also be used to see how well your marketing campaigns are working and identify new opportunities.

To view your Referral Traffic, click on the left-hand navigation menu in Analytics and select Traffic Sources then choose Referrals. A graph will display showing the total traffic coming from referred sites for a one-month period. A table below it will list the names of domains that are bringing visitors to your site, along with statistics on how those visitors are reacting to what they find.

Social media can be a great source of referral traffic. When you create valuable content for your audience, they will share it with their friends and followers, which can lead to a lot of visitors for your site. Other sources of referrals can be from online directories where your business is listed, or from other websites that include links to your site. Having this information can help you to reach out to these sites and ask for a link back. This can be particularly helpful if you are trying to boost your search engine optimization (SEO) performance.
