How to Stop a Google Ads Campaign

Google Ads is a PPC marketing channel that relies on user intent through keywords to decide whether or not to display an ad. The cost of a click (or other action) varies depending on multiple factors such as the competition, search volume, expected reach and more. You can determine how much you’re willing to spend on a click by specifying your maximum bid.

If you’re not happy with your campaign results, pausing your ads is a great way to reduce the amount of money you’re spending on ineffective advertising. It’s important to note that pausing a campaign does not delete the data or settings associated with that campaign. This means that when you re-enable your campaigns, your data and settings will be restored to their pre-pausing state.

To pause a campaign, log in to your Google Ads account and select the green dot next to the ad that you’d like to pause. Then, click on ‘Pause’ from the menu.

When you pause a campaign, Google will stop showing your ads to people who have searched for the keywords used in your ad. This will help your ad budget stretch further and will save you money on wasted advertising. Keep in mind though that when you reactivate the campaign, Google will increase your daily budget to meet the original target spending goal that you set for it when it was paused. So, if you’re happy with your campaign’s results and are ready to continue with it, just go back to the ad list and click ‘Enable’ instead of ’Pause’.
