How to Shorten a TikTok Video

TikTok has a lot of tools built into the app that help you create viral-worthy content. But sometimes the videos you shoot are too long and need to be trimmed down. Fortunately, TikTok makes it easy to cut your videos down to size so that they’re within the platform’s 60-second time limit.

To trim your video, first open the app and select a clip from your camera roll or a video you’ve previously recorded. Then, tap the ellipsis button and choose Stitch to start editing. Then, drag the red slider at the bottom of your screen to select which portion of the video you want to keep and which you want to trim.

Once you’re satisfied with your edited video, tap Next to add your own content. From here, you can add filters, music, stickers, text, animation and more. However, if you add any effects that require audio, it’s important to trim your video before adding the effect or the sound will be out of sync with the rest of the video.

When selecting music, make sure the song matches your video and is appropriate for the audience. Avoid songs that are too loud or have lyrics that may offend or distract from the video’s overall message. Also, be careful about timing your video to match key moments in the song, such as a dramatic buildup or a comedic payoff.

Once you’re done adding content, tap Post to publish your video or Drafts to save it for later. Then, add a description and hashtags to improve the video’s searchability.
