How to Set Up a Search Network Campaign

When a client wants to generate leads, sales or phone calls quickly, search network campaigns are the way to go. Search network ads are displayed in response to specific keywords entered directly into a Google search. So when someone searches for "bachelorette shirts" or "car insurance online," and a relevant ad is shown, the client knows that their potential customers are actively searching for information related to the product or service they offer.

Search network ads can be text-based ads (Expanded Text Ads or Responsive Search Ads) that appear on Google's search results pages (SERP). It's important to remember that search network ads are not a solution for all businesses, especially those who rely on conversions other than sales, such as lead generation, brand awareness, or website traffic.

If you decide to set up a search network campaign, you will need to create an ad group. Then add the keywords that you want your ad to be triggered for. Lastly, choose the match types that you want to use. A general rule of thumb is that the more specific your keywords, the better your ads will perform.

Once your ad groups are set up, you will need to set an average daily budget. This number will determine how much you spend each month, but your actual daily ad spend may be more or less than the amount you have set. It is recommended that you set a conservative budget, so you don't overspend and potentially run out of funds.
