How to Make Snap Public

By default, Snapchat is a very private app, and your content is only visible to those on your friends list. However, you can make your account public with a few easy taps, giving your followers a new way to engage with you and your stories. You can also use your public profile to promote your work, and access additional features not available with a private account.

To be eligible for a public profile, you must be 18 years old, have an active Snapchat account that is at least 24 hours old, and have one friend who adds you back. You must also not have any violations of Snapchat’s community guidelines. Snapchat has not yet launched public profiles in every country, so you may not be able to create a public profile even if you meet all of these criteria.

Can someone who is public see exactly who viewed their stories?

If you are a creator with a public profile, you can pin your best Snaps to your profile so they’re always accessible. You can also share public Stories, Spotlights, and Lenses to the Snap Map with your name attached, plus get advanced insights about how your content performs.

To switch to a public profile, open the Snapchat app and tap your Bitmoji in the top left corner of the screen. From there, tap your profile image to go to your profile. Then, swipe up on the screen to view your settings. Tap “Edit public profile” to change your status.
