How to Look at Someone's Mentions on Twitter

Twitter is a powerful social media tool to increase brand awareness and engage with your followers. While success on Twitter varies depending on your business goals, most agree that successful brands have one thing in common: engaging with their audience. One way to do this is by tracking mentions of your brand on Twitter.

When someone says “Twitter mention,” they usually mean any Tweet that uses the @ symbol immediately followed by your Twitter handle (also known as a username). If you have your Twitter settings set to notify you of these mentions, you will receive a notification when these happen.

There are other types of Tweets that can also be tracked as Twitter mentions, though these aren’t as important for businesses. Tweets that include your hashtag are a great example, as these can be used to track conversations surrounding specific topics or events. Additionally, you can track replies to your Tweets, as these are public conversations that can be viewed by the person you’re replying to and anyone who follows both accounts.

It’s important to note the difference between a Reply and a Mention, as these two types of Tweets are different in terms of visibility and functionality. A Reply is a Tweet that starts with @username, but it’s only seen by the sender, recipient and people who follow both accounts. Mentions, on the other hand, are more of a public conversation that can contain your Twitter handle anywhere in the Tweet and are visible to everyone who sees the Tweet.
