If you want to add someone on snap from a picture, the first thing you need to do is take a screenshot of their Snapcode. To do this, simultaneously press the power and home buttons (iPhone) or the volume and power buttons (Android). Your device will make a noise and flash when the screenshot is taken successfully. The screenshot will then be saved to your device’s default photo folder.
You can also add friends using their Snapcode or contact information if you’ve previously given Snapchat permission to access your phone contacts or email addresses. Tap the add friend icon on the Chat, Camera, or Stories tab and follow any prompts to give Snapchat permission to sync with your contacts list.
Another way to add friends on Snapchat is by searching for them by their username. Tap the search bar at the top of any screen and type your friend’s username to see if they appear in the results. You can also scan a Snapcode or find a user’s username through their profile Bitmoji icon.
Finally, you can also add friends by scanning their Snapcode or adding them through a Mention in a Story. To do this, open the camera screen and position your camera over their Snapcode or the Winking Ghost icon in a Story. When you’re done, a purple banner will appear at the top of your screen letting you know that your new friend has been added. This method only works if your friends are in the same room as you, however.
