How Long Can a Facebook Story Be?

Facebook Stories are a great way for brands to showcase their content on prime real estate on the top of users’ news feeds. Each video added to a Facebook story has a maximum length of 26 seconds. If your video is longer than this, Facebook will automatically trim it. Alternatively, you can also add your videos to Facebook Messenger and upload them to your story via that, bypassing the 30-second limit.

While it’s recommended that videos on Facebook should be short, a few minutes of video is not going to hurt your reach or engagement. In fact, longer videos such as live streaming and episodic web series tend to perform well.

The Stories feature also allows you to view and measure how people interact with your content. You can get an overview of all the unique opens and interactions from your stories – this includes replies, reactions, stickers, swipe ups, profile taps, and shares. You can also see demographics of your audience, such as age and gender. This information is available in your Page Insights.
