How Do I Look Up 404s in Ahrefs?

A 404 error page is a webpage on your website that no longer exists. It’s important to keep on top of 404s so that you can redirect them to more relevant pages and avoid losing link authority.

The easiest way to check if your site has any 404s is by using a backlink scanning tool, such as Ahrefs or Screaming Frog. You can do this by entering the URL of your website into these tools, then going to the ‘Broken backlinks’ tab in the Backlinks profile section. This will show you a list of all the referring pages that are linking to your site and have a 404 error code. You can sort or filter this list based on the anchor text, URL, DR, and more.

Another good way to find 404s is by using the “Related sites” tab within Site Explorer. This uses advanced heuristics to produce a list of up to 100 sites that are deemed similar to the queried site. It’s a great way to discover new sites that you might not be aware of.

Of course, you can also use the Search Console Pages report to see if any of your pages have gone missing. However, this can be a bit time consuming and does not give you real-time results. So I would recommend using one of the above tools instead, as they will provide you with more accurate results in a much shorter time frame.
